Water and Sanitation

Rain Water Harvesting

6 KILOMETRES is the average distance most rural African woman walk each day to collect water that’s often teaming with disease-causing bacteria. The journey to collect water can be treacherous and expose women and girls to injury, assault and animal attacks.

The available water often causes local children and families to suffer from water-borne infections and even death.

1 CHILD DIES EVERY MINUTE from a diarrheal disease caused by use of contaminated water or poor sanitation, according to the World Health Organisation. That means 1.75 million children die globally each year from waterborne diseases… with a large proportion of these deaths occurring in rural Africa.

With more than 30 years experience as an Africa wide NGO, Joint Aid Management International (JAM), is dedicated to providing clean drinking water as a vital part of its work within African communities.

Our Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme was established in 2001 to address the alarming shortage of, and desperate need for, clean drinking water and better sanitation practices on the continent.

By the end of 2017, JAM had already drilled close to 3,000 wells and brought clean water, sanitation and hygiene training to over one million people throughout South Africa, South Sudan, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.

JAM drilled water wells bring access to clean, potable water resulting in a better quality of life for many rural and impoverished communities.

JAM guarantees efficient and effective work to ensure operational costs are kept as low as possible. This includes a five-year maintenance support commitment for the assisted community.

Your participation can help change the reality for many people. A contribution of 117300 NOK will drill a water well bringing safe, clean water to an entire community of around 500 people. If you or your company cannot do an entire well then please consider that every 235 NOK contribution takes water to one person. Together we can change the future of so many people by bringing the life-changing gift of safe drinking water – a fundamental human right.
