Water Walk

As the sun rises over rural communities in Africa, women and children begin each day by walking many miles to collect water for their families’ survival. They return home exhausted, straining under the heavy burden of multiple containers filled with water.

The precious cargo they’ve spent hours collecting is often contaminated with disease-causing germs and bacteria; diseases like cholera that can be fatal and often results in the devastating heartbreak of parents’ burying their children.

The tragedy of bearing witness to such misery led our Founder Peter Pretorius, to act and bring the life-changing gift of safe drinking water to communities. Since 2001, JAM has drilled more than 2,660 wells and our teams continue to change the future of communities in water-scarce areas in Africa.
