Call for South Sudan to work towards increasing food security

With JAM having been involved in improving food security, providing nutritional relief and agricultural development in South Sudan since 2001, we are sensitive to the challenge of improving access to nutrition in the world’s newest nation. In November 2013, AllAfrica.com reported that the United Nations Food And Agricultural Organisation (UNFAO) called on the fledgling Government of South Sudan to roll out a national programme aimed at improving food security for its citizens. JAM is currently the World Food Programme’s (WFP) second largest implementing partner and is engaged in helping thousands of emerging farmers in its Food For Assets Programme (FFA), a programme that provides food incentive for farmers to produce food and improve food security.
